This entire Ayala Alabang this is just plain stupid. That's the only way to say it. Let's just look at it from one angle right now. Let's forget about any religion or any bill. What is the reason that we have doctors make prescriptions?
We have doctors control prescriptions because those prescriptions are for drugs. Drugs which we take into our bodies. Drugs which could kill us or be abused if allowed to be bought by just anybody. There is a reason that some drugs are over the counter drugs and don't need a prescription, because they aren't addictive or potentially deadly.
So why then is Barangay Ayala Alabang requiring prescriptions for buying condoms? We do not ingest condoms. No one has ever died (to my knowledge) from overuse of condoms, no one has ever died from because the condom he was wearing was killing him. Why should it be a controlled substance? Because they believe condoms are evil? So why don't we have shopping malls require receipts for skimpy clothes as well? Surely they believe skimpy clothes are wrong as well.
Another point here is, is the entire population of Barangay Ayala Alabang made up of Catholics? As in 100% without a single non-Catholic? If not, why are they allowed to impose a rule based on Catholic beliefs to everyone in the community, whether Catholic or not? Isn't that religious discrimination?
This is just an exercise is stupidity. Hey, I guess it won't be long before we witness Barangay Ayala Alabang's annual witch burning, should be fun! When does the inquisition start? Do they sell those pointy spiked rings there that stop you from having an erection?
Guess you don't have to go very far in our country to see what life was like hundreds of years ago.
